What are Data Loggers?
A data logger which is also referred to as a data recorder is basically an electronic device that helps in the recording of data over time or at times in relation to the location of its placement with a sensor or an instrument that is pre-built. The data loggers used in recent times are actually based on a processor which is digital in nature. But with the advancement of technology, the data loggers have become extremely small as well as portable and they come with a sensor, microprocessor, and internal memory for the purpose of recording data.
Applications for Pasteurisation Process
Pasteurization is nothing but a process that helps in the reduction and destruction of bacteria in the product which otherwise could be harmful to the health of human beings. Pasteurization is basically one of the most critical processes in the production of milk, cheese, alcohol, and juice. As per the quality food standards, the manufacturers need to necessarily show clear evidence that the products have undergone the process of pasteurization. For this purpose, the manufacturers make use of separate data acquisition for continuous recording and monitoring of several parameters of the process. This process is either carried out as a continuous process or a batch process which is exactly where the data loggers come to the rescue of the manufacturers.
G-Tek’s smart screen series of paperless data loggers can be easily employed by the manufacturers for the measurement of the exact temperature of the product. The data loggers are also able to take the input of the divert valve position. The manufacturers are easily able to see the trend chart in the exact format as intended such as strip chart format or circular chart. In the pasteurization plant, the data loggers not only help in the monitoring of the process but also helps in controlling the position of the valve to divert the fluid in case the temperature goes down up to a certain limit.
The data loggers of G-Tek come with a client-based software known as gtekNetTM which allows data to be recorded in real-time on a server that can be conveniently seen from anywhere via the internet or under the intranet. In an addition to this, the software helps in the sharing of data between different departments as and when required. Reports can also be generated automatically and sent to the intended recipients making it extremely convenient for the users. The data loggers are also able to generate voice alarms or SMS alerts in case of extreme conditions or unfavorable events. The users would be able to view multiple data recorded by the instrument at a time or individually as per the requirements.
Apart from being used in the pasteurization industry, these data loggers are also quite useful in the monitoring of the process parameters in freeze drying, tire, sterilization, fermentation process, environmental parameters monitoring, flow & heat treatment, and a number of other process parameters in a lot of industries.
